Ansel Adams: "The Tetons and Snake River, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming"
Description:
  • Mountains
  • River
  • Trees
  • Clouds
  • Snow
  • Values of Black and White
  • Curvy Lines
  • Dreary Light

Analysis:

  • Movement - curvy river
  • Value - Shades and tints of Black
  • Shape- triangle shape of the mountains

Interpretation:

The artist is walking home from his expedition and looks back to see where he just walked from. He sees the curvy river disappearing into the mountain side. He can see the snow on top of the mountain and he knows that he must make it back home before the snow traps him in the valley with no means of escape.

Judgement:

I really like the tranquility of the piece. I would love to have a house right were the artist is standing to see the beautiful landscape through out the seasons.
